Cookbooks and recipes are a great way to start cooking or baking. Use a cookbook or even look online for what you need at that time. Depending on what time you do have to look for what you are wanting or needing. I know I own cookbooks, but I realized that I am looking online for my recipes.
When I want to bake, it is much easier to just search online for what I am wanting. I found some great recipes online, so many to search through. So remember to keep track of your time, so you do not get too carried away. And lose track of your whole day. You know the internet has so much to look up and you end up going down a rabbit hole of searching for almost anything. But if you are looking for a one time stop and shop you can look here and there are some great kitchen gadgets to be found.
A dessert that I love making is in one of my cookbooks. I still have that cookbook for the few recipes I do love. I am thinking that I may just copy or print off my favourite recipes, and not keep the whole book. It is just sitting there and is used a few times a year. Taking up space in my kitchen that I could be using for other things. Now, for Cookbooks and recipes, I am starting to think online may be the way to go. Less books to keep. But I still have all my cookbooks, I just can’t seem to part with them.
Searching For A Recipe
I look on my iPad and search for my recipe by looking up exactly what I am wanting to make. I look up on Google Search Browser. There are many recipes that do pop up right away, just need to weed through what you are looking for. With what ingredients you do have for the recipe you are needing.
I love to look up cookie recipes and what I can make with what I have on hand. I have tried this one recipe years ago. Was a simple recipe with some coconut and I loved it, but I never printed it or copied it. Lost the recipe and now I need to go look again for it. Wish I had bookmarked it in my computer when I found it. I do that now, with any random recipes I do find now. You know what! I didn’t find that recipe again. But that is ok, cause now my kid don’t like coconut. We do love brownies, I found a great recipe for that online. I copied that right away and saved it in my recipe box.
Is It Worth Having A Cookbook?
This is what I am starting to wonder. Is it really worth having cookbooks at all?? How much do I actually use them? Will I use them?? How much space are they taking up in my kitchen? This is what I have been thinking about because I am currently starting to declutter my house.
I think it is easier to just search up online what you are looking to bake or cook. You easily see what you need or have to go and buy. And if this is on your computer or your cell phone you can also go and print it also. My phone is connected to my printer, via wifi. My printer is connected to the internet and makes it way easier. I also love saving it in my computer now-labeled baking I want to try. Also, another folder- recipes I have tried and love. I started saving some great beef recipes since I found this.
For your cookbooks and recipes take out your favorites and print them or write them down. So you can get rid of your cookbooks and focus on making your favorites that you know how to make. I already know my family loves the food, like the cake recipes I have saved. I have a favorite rhubarb cake recipe in one cookbook, I will write it on a card or in a book. Better to manage all my recipes that way. Less clutter and mess.
Also saving your favorite recipes is good when you have others that want to help you. They can also refer to the recipe since you have it saved. Such a time saver. I have bought a wooden recipe box and will start adding ones my daughter gave me from ones she made in highschool. She will have them here in my recipe box for later on. When she wants to make that recipe she already made herself. Or even better start a book or box of her own saved recipes. You too can modify the recipes and make them your own and writeen in your own words. Something to think about.
