So Much Clutter

So much clutter is what I realize I see lately. The stuff on the counters and desktop are things I use. Not clutter. That is actually all tucked away and hidden on shelves and cubbies. I thought I was tidying up but I was hiding all the excess things I actually don’t use. So this was a wake-up call for me. To realize this and see my things in a different light.

What I Realized

When you have so many items all over the floor and nowhere to put them. Cause it has no real spot to go, but you do use it. Well, guess what!! These are actual items you do use. Just take a look around at all your things lying around. You will realize that you used it that same day. So think about that and go open cupboards or shelves close by. You will have forgotten the items were even in there. So take out the things in there and pick up the things off the floor and place them in there. A great way to see all your things now.

Kitchen Items

I have lots of spaces I need to go through. My kitchen is one of them. I have so many appliances, maybe you are the same. Instant pot, crock pots, dehydrators, griddles, etc… I actually have 3 griddles. One for pancakes and one for frying food. And just a backup. But I am still using them all. So this will be something that I will hang onto.

What is on your counters? Coffee maker and random bowls, cause they can’t fit on the shelf. I have my toaster out and some canned goods. Canned goods, yes, because I had to make some room for school snacks in the pantry. So I said to myself I would eat one can of soup a day. That was my theory, but it never did happen. I eat one every other day. When I did this, I realized. I don’t eat a lot of soup, but I end up always buying them. So now I will only buy mushroom soup cause I know I will eat it.

Cupboards Have Space?

So time to look at the space you have in your kitchen cupboards. What is stored in there, do you open your cupboards lots? Or do you find that you only use the things that are out in the open, like I do? My air fryers-both of them. Are out on the counter, because we use them a lot. But they would like nicer if they were in the cupboard below where they are used always. Because it looks like so much clutter when they are out on the counter.

With this thought, I will tackle my kitchen again and de-clutter it. Using my cupboards for storing my everyday items. Take out all the other things, cause I don’t even use them. If that is the same case for you, then you can get rid of a lot of clutter this way. It may work for you too. I was also told that if you never used it in 6 months you would not use it again. I have 3 measuring cups in my cupboard but I still refuse to get rid of them. Cause I know I may need them one day, but I will put a post-it in it with the date. See if I even use them or not. Then I guess I will need to get rid of them, cause they are taking up valuable space in my kitchen.

My Desk Clutter

Desk clutter is a hard one for me, I have all my pencils and books out on the desk. No room for my keyboard and mouse to work. Cause all my things are out and in my way. So what did I do? I added a side bookcase to put my books on and my printer. My excess pencils are on there too. I have added my headphones to the shelf also. Easy to reach and close enough so I can use them. Always see them too, which helps me to know where they are.

My pencils and pens. I still have a small pencil holder on my desk and have raised my desktop so I can place my keyboard underneath it. Makes my desk look so neat and tidy and easy to just jump to work. Cause, believe it or not, it is all nice and clean and not so much clutter on the desk now.

Enough room to actually work, put a notebook on my desk without having to move anything at all.

The bookcase works for me, I tried a small one. But it didn’t work, I was stacking all my things on the floor and around the shelf. So I needed a bigger shelf, lucky I already had one in my home. Which was a dump shelf in my living room. So I took everything off and threw it on the couch and will have to deal with all that. Which means more decluttering in there for me.

My Crafting/crochet Things

This was a big thing I had to do. I have purchased a lot of yarn, $100 worth for making blankets. Also, received some yarn too and my daughter bought me some too. So I had lots of bags all over the place. I needed a storage solution for all this yarn, cause the bags were constantly getting moved everywhere. So my solution was some fabric boxes to tuck the yarn in. I also bought a three-shelf/box for lots of yarn. To keep projects apart and easy to find.

The yarn is all put-away and I know where it all is. Now, it is all on the bookcase and not in bags. Easy to crochet a blanket and not having to dig out the bags or look for the color I need. I even took all my other yarn and placed it into boxes too. Took the time to organize it all, and you know what it only took me less than half-hour.

My Problem I Have Right Now!

Is all my Nintendo consoles, and other game consoles. Controllers and games and connection cords. It is so many because I own a lot of systems. Now, I collect these, and I know I refuse to get rid of them cause I will eventually play with them. Right now, I love my Nintendo Switch, so it is connected to an extra tv. Easy to just go to it and go and play a game. As for another system, my Xbox One is connected to the living room tv and ready to play a game. Kids love playing these games.

I still own an Xbox 360 and the connections and a box of games also, most of the games are not backward compatible for the Xbox One. So I store them just in case that they will eventually be. I also, love to have the extra console in case I want to connect it to my bedroom tv.

I also own Nintendo N64/games, Original Nintendo, Wii, WiiU, and An Atari. Yes, I love my video games. But storing them is a whole other issue. How and where to store them. And they need to be easy to access also. Easy to find the connections and systems and games too. So it is not a big struggle to want to connect a system. This is what my struggle is, I don’t know where to start. I do have some ideas, but this may be something that I will always need out. But then maybe not.

Need Some Motivation To Start!

I make sure I take a snap and then get started on what needs to stay and what needs to go. I have not gotten rid of such things. So my snap will be needed to tackle my living room. My game/watching tv room- also houses my DVD/blu-ray movies also. At least those are all in a cabinet, nice and tidy. No need to worry about those, but it would be nice to fit all my games and systems in there also.

I do have another cabinet, but it has my books and coloring books, and color pencils. No room there for more things. Need motivation for sure.
