Can you get juice from fruit? That is what I wondered. You know cause we have apple juice, it comes from apples. So yeah, of course, you can get juice from fruit.
Depending on what fruit you are thinking. Cause remember, someone does have to like it enough to drink it. Or maybe it would just be you drinking it. Then of course you would drink it, because you made it.
Making Your Own Juice
I had alot of plums to use this year. I didn’t need more canned plums. So I thought of making juice with them. I wondered if it was easy to do.
High in potassium this mineral helps with digestion, heart rhythm, nerve impulses, and muscle contractions, as well as blood pressure. Since the body doesn’t naturally produce potassium, consuming prunes or prune juice can help you avoid deficiencies.
Well, I just washed all the plums and threw them into a big stockpot, with enough water to cover the fruit. Boiled it, and stirred it. Lowered the temperature to simmer. After, I strained it all, and added the juice to another pot, cooked it a little longer. Just long enough to add some sugar to it, have the sugar dissolve. Took it off the heat and added to jars. I put in the fridge.
Plums are full of potassium which is great for digestion, and your blood pressure too. Which basically is the same as eating bananas. Which is something my Dr. told me I need to eat, for my high blood pressure, is more bananas. Now I can also eat plums too, for the same reason I have to eat bananas.
Who knew that Plum juice has lots of vitamins in it, like vitamins A, C, K, and B. Along with riboflavin, potassium, iron, calcium, and thiamine. Wow, didn’t know that now I really will be drinking more plum juice. Also, it tastes great too.

You Could Make Syrup Instead Of Juice
That is not that hard. Follow the same process, but you would not just that much water. Just add like a third of the pot size. Or even less. Cause all you want is the juice off the fruit. I cooked down the juice to a thick consistency for my syrup. At the end, I had added my sugar. And then I would either put in fridge, or decide if I would can the syrup.
If you decide to can, I only put my syrup in 500ml jars and added to the water-bath canner. After the water boiled with the jars inside the canner, I timed it for 20 minutes. Just long enough to seal the jars. The liquid would be hot when you added to the jars.
There is so much that you can can, once you know the basics on canning. Once you learn how, you will want to can fruit and veggies, instead of freezing. You will gain more freezer space, and lose cupboard space. You will have more food stored for the winter, is the plus of all this.
Making Grape Juice
I had a lot of grapes, I had received a few 5 gallon buckets of grapes. My husband works in a Winery, in town. These grapes were cut off of the grape plants. Because there were too many clusters of grapes on the plants. So they were cutting them off and just dropping them on the ground.
So he brought a few buckets to me to have. I liked some in my smoothies, and some we ate, and I froze the rest.
My friend asked me what I was doing with all the grapes I had. Cause I had them outside. I told her, and she asked my if I was gonna make some grape juice.
You know what!! It never even occured to me to make some juice with the grapes. Same process as I did with the plums. I thought it was really difficult at first. But it was pretty easy, cause I did this before I did the Plum Juice.
My grape juice turned out great. I made some into juice and syrup. Was so good, it sure didn’t last long!!
Made Raspberry Juice Too!!
That was delicious too. With this I needed to use a cheese cloth, because of all the tiny little seeds in the raspberries. I liked this, it had a real great taste to it. Something you wouldn’t normally get in the store.
So I will be making more next year, as this year, I froze all my berries. Not even thinking of making juice with them. I let alot of raspberries go to waste. Cause it got too hot here, and they fell off the plants. So next year, I have a plan. To make lots of raspberry juice, and of course, plum juice.
SOUR CHERRY JUICE?????
Now once I think about sour cherries, I think on how sour they will be. I never tried one myself. But I got my daughter to try one for me, and I watched her facial expression tell me how it was. Which was sour!!! That was enough for me.
So the only reason why I am thinking of sour cherries, is because I have a tree in my yard. Not mine, but my landlords, cause I never would of chose that.
So I think if I make juice, it will take alot of sugar, that’s for sure. But I would think that it would taste like cherries of course. And who doesn’t like cherries. Shall try next year.
What about Pressed Juice
Now that is something I have heard about a little. Alot of fruits and vegetables go into each bottle. For a healthier you, it is a good thing to be drinking fresh juice.
So you can buy some that is already made, or one that you make yourself.
So the question asked, in the beginning, was can you get juice from fruit? The answer is YES!!
