Crocheting blankets are my way to relax. I am currently making them for others. I love doing them each night for a few hours each day.
Crocheting is a great skill to learn. It is very easy to do. If you are determined to learn and catch on. You will get the hang of it, and once you learn the basic few stitches. You will be good to go, and you will want to venture out on making a small project.
Once you get the hang of one small project you will want to do more. Learn more, because you will see how great your project looks. Made by your own hands, with just yarn.
There is so much yarn that you can choose from. Whichever store you choose, or even online, has that much more to choose from.
Projects You Can First Start With
Start with a simple basic stitch dishcloth, made with single crochet. Just pick a color either solid or multi-color. You can make an 8×8 or 9×9 size, enough for your needs.
Or even make a really small one, just to practice and use. See if you like what you have made.
You can do a simple granny stitch, and once you get the hang of it too. Make a pillowcase cover for a throw pillow. Or even do what I did, made a cat blanket. My cats love their blankets. Going to make some more for them soon. They keep them very warm and very happy.
You can do those, then once you know exactly what you are doing. Go bigger, and make a small throw blanket for yourself. For the beach, or maybe for a campfire. Or even just sitting outside at nighttime. I love mine, but it turned into a bigger blanket. For my bed, for me to watch movies at night.

So crocheting blankets are my way to relax. It relieves the stress I have from the day. Or maybe just need to do something that I love to do. I love to create a blanket for the ones I love. I have made quite a few blankets already.
Corner To Corner Blanket
I love the c2c(corner to corner) stitch. I love making these blankets, they seem to go really fast!!! Cause it takes me around a month and a half, to make a blanket. Dedicating 3-4 hours each night to make this blanket. But I usually do take the weekends off. So I work on them Monday to Friday.
I found that I do my crocheting at night when I watch my PVR. Catching up on my soaps and some shows I have missed. A great way for me to relax and make a blanket.
Currently Working On Right Now
Right now, I am working on baby blankets. Using the baby blanket thick yarn and I am making a big granny square one. I am using 2 different colors, which are already a mix of 3 colors in each yarn. One is dark blue and the other one is pink. Cause we are waiting for my granddaughter to be born pretty soon. I have already made a smaller blanket that will be used for the car seat when she comes home.
I also have bought some new yarn and chose purple and light purple and white. Trying to decide if I want to add some black to it or not. That is when I thought of adding a letter to it. I have not tried this ever before. But it looked easy. I am still unsure how to though. So I will just keep that as an idea for a future blanket idea. Since this is my way to relax, I know I will be making more blankets.
Making more blankets means I need to think out of the ordinary. Graphgans is the next thing I will soon try. You know, if a person gets really good at these. A blanket from a photograph can be made. Now, how awesome would that be. I have seen some pictures posted on the internet. Even ones made of a family pet. Really nice detail made on them also. They look fabulous, that is why I am thinking I should try and make one. Start small, like a coaster. So I can try and figure out how easy or hard it is to do.
Where Did I Get My Yarn?
I checked out a lot of stores online. There are so many to find out there, don’t be afraid to go and explore for yourself. Think of where you live and look for the best price for shipping and handling. Do you know the best thing about shopping online for yarn? More choices in colors for you to choose from. They have some really nice purples out there to look and pick from.

But you do need to know exactly what type of yarn you need. I work with acrylic yarns. Called supersavers yarn, by Redheart. I found that is what I buy when I go to Walmart. I still am learning what the sizes of the yarn balls come in. That is what I couldn’t figure out. How much I needed for my blanket. But you’re shopping online, so it is easy to just buy some more and continue on your blanket. No fear of running out of the yarn you need. No running to a store either delivered right to your door. Or the post office for me is where I need to get my mail from.
Busy planning your next yarn project and thinking you need some help. How about some help with mental clarity, get rid of that brain fog!!!! This will keep you going and also giving you some of that much-needed energy we need. I take mine in the morning. Usually, before I go for my daily walk, and the usual start of my day.
