Dealing With Distractions

Dealing with distractions is something you may be dealing with if you are working from home. Especially if you have never worked from home before.
As is the case for me. My family partially understands what I am doing. But they still think they have my undivided attention. But they don’t, and that is where it starts to get complicated.

I had to figure out where my office was going to be and how I would not be bothered. Especially when I am in the zone of my writing. So I have tried to do a curtian system. When I was busy working, I would put up the curtain. I loved the idea. But hated the having to put this curtain up all the time.

So then my next idea is to have a scarf or something up. So everyone would see it and know I am busy at work-working. Not just looking like I am working. I have yet to try that out and see if it will work or not.

I did try a sign that said “I AM WORKING”

Hmmmph did that work?? No! No one listened or read the sign. Even though it was placed right above my desk for them to see. But they never read it, or they just ignored it. So that plainly did not work.

So my next thing, was to move out of the current desk area. Move into another room and section an area out for my office. Now I am currently trying that out. Seems to work, but I am only into day 3 of this one.

But all my desk things are all with my other desk in the living room. So unsure if I will move it all in here or not. Need to test it out first. Because the main desk is anchored to the wall. Can not be easily moved at all. Plus it has one computer and 2 monitors. So I do need to be sure of where I will be moving, and also if I will move.

This is all that I am currently doing now. Because I needed to find a way for dealing with my distractions. Cause they sure were not going to go away. So I needed to make a change. So I can get away from some of the distractions. Being my family and the noise of the whole household.

Away From Distractions

Be basically in an office setting, but the office is in my house. So away from everything that has become a distraction for me. Also, turning off those distractions too. Being my phone, my iPad, my tv. Even right down to lock my front door. Put on my noise-canceling headphones, so I can go straight to work. From the comfort of my own home.

If I get hungry I have snacks here beside me. So I do not need to go into the kitchen if I am that busy working. As I don’t need to go far for some food if I need to. But I do need to stay productive at work. I also take my snap for the start of my day. A new fabulous product that was just introduced. I use this to help with my focus for my day and to also get rid of that brain fog. That we all get each morning, and this helps to get rid of that. Love it and take it every day. If you are curious, you can check it out also.

So of course it is a challenge, but to make it work. You need to realize what your distractions are and how to minimize them. So you can easily work from home. And make it work. I am learning how to get these minimized and I can have more focus on my PBS.

Family Is Understanding

My family is finally understanding now. That is when they see me in my office and headphones are in. That they can not bother me at all. But of course, they still do. So that is another thing we need to work on.

Telling your family when you working and not, is something that needs to be dealt with. So everyone is on board, and no one gets stressed out. So you can make working from home and work for you and your family.

Also, you need to learn time management, if you don’t know it already. You will slowly learn what works for you and what doesn’t. As we are all different, and it is good to understand it all right from the beginning. So when you’re dealing with distractions you will have a better understanding of what they are. How to cope and manage it all.
