How Do You Do What You Do?

How do you do what you do is what I find many people ask me. Because I appear to not let other things get to me. Now, what exactly does that mean? Of course, life is happening all around me, but I don’t let it get to me. Well again, that sure doesn’t explain much. I take it in and let it go, and move on with my day.

More or less, I guess I have learned how to shut off an internal switch. I have just recently realized this. It has been something that has been on my mind for a very long time. Now I mean probably a lifetime.

How Did I Realize How To Shut Off

I don’t basically shut off, I am not a robot but I am human. I needed to find a way to simply take in what I needed, and to not show or let it get to me. Now, I believe I have learned this early on in life. Because I was thinking about this early this morning. I realized that I had lots go on in my life. With that, and not knowing how to deal with it. I took it in and moved on with my day.

Not saying I just blocked it, cause I remember it all. I just coped later on, when no one was looking I guess. It is still a work in progress and do this every day. As I know my childhood was a rough one, and many have asked how I am not like others. Who doesn’t know how to get past their memories of basically how they were wronged when growing up. Well, my childhood has made me a stronger person, I took it as a positive and worked on that. Didn’t go down the self-pity road as many do. I have my own story of who I am and how it made me be who I am the person you now see. But this here is part of that journey that is working for me.

So to say, if someone got me upset or said something I didn’t agree with. I let them talk and get it out. As it may be something they need for themselves. Then, I sigh to myself and basically “let it go.” I don’t dwell on it or get upset, I just listen and let it go. Taking that deep breath is realizing it and letting the breath out is my letting go. This is probably on part of what I do. As I said, I am still learning about it myself. How I cope with things and to be able to explain them to you.

How do you do What you do

When I am asked how do you do what you do is a full question in itself. It is alot to explain, but I have been doing this all my life. Without even realizing what I was doing. That others were not doing what I am doing. Here I thought everyone dealt with things the same way. To come to realize that is not the case and we are all different. Unique in our own way and have our own coping skills. Some may not be the best, but they are how you cope. You don’t know how to do it any other way unless you reach out and search for it.

That is what got me thinking about writing about how I cope with things. How I look like life doesn’t get me, or I live in my own world. Sure life happens to me but, I just don’t let it get to me. That is the key, how much or if any will you let life get to you. Or will you just move on with your day because you are the one that matters? Not all what others think or are doing. How they feel or what their problems are, that is their life and not YOURS!

Sometimes We Need To Reset!

Reset is when you have just had enough of it all. You have reached your limit of trying and coping with all of your things you are dealing with. We take on so much without even realizing we are doing it. If that sounds like you, as it is so many of us. Then when you just feel like you can’t take anymore and almost ready to snap. Stop yourself and do what you need to do to help yourself. Taking a Moment for yourself:

  • cup of coffee outside
  • sitting outside just enjoying the weather
  • watching birds while you sit outside
  • going for a walk by yourself
  • go for a drive by yourself
  • an ice cream treat
  • a chocolate bar just sit and enjoy it
  • a favorite playlist playing while you lie on your bed alone
  • listen to music when your out for a walk
  • time to reflect with no outside noise
  • watch a movie and sit and enjoy

These are few ideas that may work for you. But remember we are all not the same people. We have our own way of coping or dealing with things that go on in our day. No matter what they may be, we all need to reset every so often. Maybe not as much as others or maybe you need to do it every day. However you do it, is all up to you. You just do what works for you and hope this help you on your journey of finding yourself and what works for you!
