How To Organize My Room

How to organize my room, is what I wondered on the weekend. After all my things were all on my bed, just so I could move my desk and bookcases. I had first moved my bed, cause it was easier to do that first. Then I was able to place my computer and cords on my bed after it was moved. Now, I really thought this was easy to do. Well, it was in my head. It looked really simple to do.

how to organize my room

I never thought about all the little items in my room. Or even on my desk, for that matter. I have alot of little things, that I know I never want to lose either. Let’s say you have a tv in your room, remember you want to be able to find your remotes for it later. For now, where does that go? That is what I was trying to do, was find a safe spot for them to go. And no the window sill was not the answer, because it was already full.

Now when I first started cleaning and organizing my room. My idea was I was gonna throw out a bunch of things I no longer use. I got rid of 2 garbage bags, but I still had lots of stuff in my room. Also added a table in my room too. Thinking I need more computer space, maybe it was more writing space. Now, when I look at the table I am thinking a puzzle table. For my downtime, instead of watching tv.

My Cords For All Electronics

My cords were another thing that I needed to worry about. What cord went to what device. Was it a computer or speakers? Or even just a charge cord, my favorite cord too. Also, where do the HDMI cords go, which one went to what? I have game systems too. And remember all HDMI cords are all black, and all different lengths also. So with that thought in your head, you can see where I am going with this.

I decided it was easier to just disconnect them and mark them with masking tape right away. I labeled each piece of tape that I wrapped around a cord. To what device it connected to, so I would know where it went. But only do this if you know where all your cords go. Cause if you don’t then all you will have is a big mess.

After I moved Everything

It was all moved, and needed to be put back together. That was a whole nother project, and it looked easier in my head than what I seen. So the big mess I just made, needed to be cleaned up. My desk, got moved and computer cords are not even connected yet. My screens are on the floor, and I couldn’t even find my computer mouse or keyboard with all the mess. So at least I was glad I could find my tv remote. Was lots of work, but it did get all done.

I was able to walk around, but it was still disorganized. I needed specific spots for all the items I just moved. I basically put it all back where it used to be. I sometimes think it would be easier just to reset it all. Just add what I need and get rid of all things, but I have lots I still use and no where for it to go.

How To Organize My Room

I needed to have it work for what I needed it for. My work area was in my room. My tv is also in my room, where I watch TV and play games too. I figured that I would have my bookcase close to my desk, with all my work things. I had to move my room, in a way that I would watch TV without cramping my neck to see it. I also had to make sure I had some flow in my room. So I could easily walk around and be able to work at my desk also.

I thought this would all work out, like I would see how I wanted it once I moved everything. Nope, it didn’t work at all. Still caos, and needed to figure something else out. So I thought, what do I use in my daily day for work. I needed to have it clear so I could get to work right away and just jump in when I needed to. So my go to items needed to be close. Other things would go away from me and off to the side. Still a little tweaking is needed, but works for now and that is all that matters.

Do what You Need For You

I did end up moving my room around again, cause it did not work for me. So my work area and bed are in the same room. So half and half and now it works now. I just have my bed set up with my tv on one side of the room and my work area on the other side of the room. So this is better than before and has more flow in it now. You figure out what needs to be in there and what has to go. Depending on what you want to do, it is up to you.

Now my space is moving again, I will move my bed and my desk. I think I will move my desk so I will have some quiet time. Away from everyone in the house. I have started to think of what I would like in my room and how to make it work. It has to have some flow, and with knowing this before helps me to plan what will work for me. I need to not squish all my things into one room, but make it work for me. For my business and it has to have flow. Without that, it will not work. How do I know this, is because I have done that before. Flow and less stress is the key this time.
