Kids Need A Routine

I know that kids need a routine, in order to know what they are doing each and every day. They know what is expected of them. More structure for them.

I know this is the same for school. When they are in school. They all have a routine. What they know to do as soon as they get there.

Just like now, things have changed. They have to do the same thing each and every day that they get to school. They were told of what they need to do when they arrive. Also the same for when they do head home and leave school.

Kids all need a Routine

I know this is what I recently figured out, on a routine. A written routine written down.

Forget me telling them each and every day- I wrote a chore list and a small routine for them to follow.

I sat down one day and wrote it all out. What they were to do after school. Before they even got to chat with friends, or play games, or even watch tv. They had to do all the things listed on their chore list.

Kids and chores and routine I think go hand in hand.

  • clean room
  • make and tidy their bed
  • clean desk, and clean up
  • put dirty and clean laundry away
  • pickup any garbage in the room
  • vacuum

This is the basic, then I specified what I needed for each child. Because I was telling them this each day. Getting myself stressed out!!! Which isn’t good. Cause when I got upset, they got upset also. So we needed a new plan that worked.

Routine Does Work

Kids need a routine so they know whats expected of them

This is working. I don’t need to tell them. Or even remind them.

Cause at the end of the list they do have a consequence on there. So if they do not listen or do what the list says. They do lose their devices. What is what the parent decides on which one or all devices and for how long.

No matter what you do, kids will always need some sort of instruction. Especially if you are not there, or just busy at the moment. They have something that they can refer to, to get some things done.

So they can go and have some fun, whether it be-playing Xbox, watching tv, playing online with friends. Or even just going out to be with friends. They will know what they have to do before they can ask you if they can leave or play games.

Peace of mind for you, and their room gets cleaned also. You can go and look and make sure it is all done, cause we know kids. You may have to look under their beds just to make sure they didn’t stuff things under there. Cause I know I have been there. All garbage and laundry under the bed. But the room was really clean.

Never seen any garbage in the garbage can or laundry make its way to the laundry hamper. I never checked under the bed for it all. I now do look under the bed. And the closet also. Sometimes, even the window sill, if you notice the curtain is closed. And it never was before.

So kids can be sneaky, just to hurry and finish what they need to. To get to do what they want to do. So be sure to check the room if you know your child may do this. Not all kids do, but they may do it.

You will be glad that you have set a chore list or a to do list for each week. Whatever one you choose. Least you will have some structure in your household. Making both you and your child happy.

Happy household with less stress and more relaxed atmosphere.

I know I love my household being peaceful. But for those times when you need some clarity for your head, or I should say brain. I reach for this great snap. Helps to clear my head, and helps me to focus on the rest of my day!
