Life Skills For Your Child

Life skills for your child, do they need to learn life skills?? Do we ever think that we need to teach our children how to live on their own?

life skills for your child

When they leave us, go off to college, or just move out. I know I never really gave it any thought. But I know I don’t want my child to depend on me to cook for them after they leave. Because they will always show up at dinner time, be like they never even left.

Because I would just naturally teach my child how to cook. They had to know how to turn on the stove -first of all/ shut it off too!! They would learn how to make a grill cheese sandwich, make toast. Make a sandwich using lunchmeat. Simple things, that they should know how to do already. If not, a good time to teach them how.

I started getting them to learn how to make rice, using a rice cooker. Easy simple, hotdogs for their source of meat. Least I knew that if they knew how to make these, least they would eat better than just having noodles.

Even if they know how to make a peanut butter sandwich, they will be ok. Least you know that they ate, as long as they eat something else also. NOT just pb&j every day!!

So start simple with your child, so not to overwhelm them. You want them to be interested in cooking and learning. Maybe one day they will come over and make you dinner. Now how awesome would that be?? It sounds fabulous to me, to have my child cook for me for once!!! So when I started to think about this, I also thought of life skills for your child. Are there others that don’t know kids need lifeskills?

If you have children that have moved out already, and still learning how to live on there own. Maybe need some help on how to save money on what they spend. Or even another way of thinking about what they do think about when they shop.
