Make Homemade Banana Bread

Make homemade banana bread is not that hard to do. I know when you think about baking, thinking you can’t do it. You know what, you can do it!! It’s very simple and not that many ingredients. Worth your while to try and make. We all love the smell of fresh-made banana bread. I think I love it more now that I am an adult.

My mom always made this and I know I never really ate it. I would be asking for her homemade bread-meaning white bread. Cause back then, I thought banana bread was gross. So weird, that things we never liked as kids, we love as adults.

I now make alot of banana bread. Seems like the bread lasts maybe 3 days at the most. Half a loaf is gone once it cools a bit, just enough to slice it.

Make Banana Bread

  • 1/2 cup butter (or margarine)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups white flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Mix the butter and sugar together first. Then add the eggs and bananas. Mix till thoroughly combined. Add the flour slowly, also add the baking soda. Mix this all together, at this time you may add some raisins if you want.

  • Put this in a greased loaf pan. Or even line your pan with parchment paper.

Bake at 350 deg. for 70 minutes. If it browns too quickly on the top, cover with tin foil to stop from over-browning.

  • it does have to stay in this long to ensure the middle gets cooked.  If you take out too soon, the middle will still be dough.

Now, how easy does that seem- to make homemade banana bread, with your own hands? When you make it more and more, you will be able to make it without a recipe. Also, your house will smell like banana bread too.

Warm up Banana Bread the Next Day

This is easy to do, put sliced banana bread on a saucer. Can put some butter on it now or after its heated. Then place this in a microwave and heat for 30 seconds, and if you need more. Go ahead and try another ten seconds more. Get it like you like it. Some even just toast the bread, but I find that dries it a bit.

You can use something else other than bananas

You know you can use zucchini instead of bananas, by using the same recipe. Or how about using oranges instead? I have tried using raspberries, but it does have a lot of seeds in the bread. So maybe useless, or remove the seeds out before adding to the mix. I have also used applesauce instead of bananas, taste pretty good. Really moist and is a good breakfast bread.

I recently seen a different recipe using buttermilk in the banana bread. I was surprised how much more moist it was. Was actually pretty good, may need to add that one here too.
