My Crochet Projects

My crochet projects started with just simple single crochet. Single crochet is a good place to start. It is an easy stitch to learn. I started by making small blocks for a blanket, which would be later joined. That was the wrong place to start crocheting, cause I find it hard to join them.

So after that, I moved on to double crochet. It is something you can easily search on YouTube to learn how to do. I went further and looked up how to make a granny square blanket. I loved that the simplicity of this stitch worked up fast too.

Make a C2C Blanket easy to make

start of c2c blanket

Recently I found another way to make a blanket, the only way I will make one now. It’s a C2C blanket, which means corner to corner blanket, worked on the diagonal. When you reach the length you want, you will start to decrease at the beginning and end of each row. Which others have made videos on YouTube to see how it’s done. I have made 3 blankets already with this concept, they work up fast. It is just another way of doing double crochet. Makes for a beautiful design also looks so pretty.

Since I love this way of making a blanket, I am currently always making a c2c crochet blanket. As of right now, I am finishing one for myself, I just finished one for my daughter. After I am done with mine, I will start one for my older grandson, who is 10. Then make one for his mom, cause without her I would not have my grandson.

I had recently seen someone use this corner to corner crochet in a dishcloth. Now, that is something I never even thought of making. So I may be making that very soon. Will have to find the right crochet hook to use, for the correct tension.

The cute little purse I wanna try- I did have a good YouTube video here. It is no longer there, so you will need to go look yourself. There is so many too search in the search bar.

Crochet blanket ideas are what made me find out about making a C2C crochet blanket. Now the only reason why I was looking at making a blanket, is because I was wanting to make a baby blanket.

Crochet/knit slippers are on people’s minds lately. Cold weather and we need to find ways to stay warm. Have you looked into getting slippers? Or even getting someone to make you some

When I am watching tv I am usually crocheting something. It makes me happy to be able to crochet a blanket and to give it to someone to enjoy. It does take a lot of time to make these. So I do not just give a blanket to just anyone.

Looking for ideas for cotton yarn. There are so many nice colors. This yarn is usually used for making dishcloths. They whip up really quickly and you can do it while you watch tv

I have many crochet projects going on at one time. Hard to just finish one and move on to the next one. Mainly cause of how long they take, and how I get bored sometimes. So I go to the next one.

I have always wanted to try to make a graphgan. If you know how to single crochet, slip stitch, double crochet, and can change colors of yarn. Then you have a good start on knowing how to make a graphgan

Washing crochet blankets may be the next thing you would be thinking about.

A lot of love goes into making these creations and I love making time to make them. Even though I am very busy, as I work from home each day. This is my way of unwinding from my day.

I have recently slowed down on my crocheting. I was wondering why I was feeling tired at the end of the day. Was because I wasn’t concentrating on anything else but what was on tv. So time for me to think of the next colors for my next creation. My new c2c crochet blanket, and maybe some dishcloths also.

I was given lots of cotton thread, and need to think of what I want to do with it all. I am thinking of a curtain.

Making A Cotton Thread Curtain

I am thinking of a curtain, but am unsure of how. Maybe squares, start small. Cause this is for my kitchen window, the first thing you see in my window will be this curtain. I need to think of how I would have this. Do I want a bunch of holes in the curtain, to let in light? No, cause my window curtain will usually be pulled to the side.

My curtain will be out during the night. Or when I am not standing there. As my window, faces my back yard. I love seeing the birds out my window in the morning. So I need to have a kind of plan before I figure the pattern for the curtain. And I did start a curtain, just double crochet. Took so long and this barely now covers my lap, maybe just my bottom part of my legs. So I decided it is taking too long, and am not gonna finish it.

I have also realized that I do not close my curtains each day, and I am only in there at dinner time. So I don’t think it is worth all the work to get this done. Or even bother finishing the curtain I have made so far.

My Crochet Projects

adult crochet slippers

I found a simple slipper pattern to follow on YouTube. It was very simple. Once I made a couple, I was able to do it on my own. As they are repetitive stitches, so I already knew how to do them. They turned out great, and are nice and warm. The crochet projects that I was making before wintertime. I made some as gifts for the family also.

I think I prefer to crochet than I do knit. But that is my personal preference, as you can either crochet or knit, it’s all up to you. Whichever one, they are both great skills to learn.

When I do find a pattern that I like or even just a nice stitch i like. I will read the pattern and then start a swatch of it and see if I get it right. This is just a sample to make sure I get the tension and stitch correct. If I like what I see I will finish making it. I did this when I first started looking into different pattern for slippers. Some are so complicated and some are easy. I have found that is it better to start simple and easy before I start more difficult patterns. Practice makes perfect and it does get easier as you do it more. Same concept when we start to learn crocheting the first time. Now, many years down the road I know I am way better then when I first started.

My Crochet Projects-Crochet Plant Hangers

Making crochet plant hangers is something that I had found on Pinterest. Well, actually the idea of a plant hanger. I saw lots of posts on how to make a macrame plant hanger. But that was for an actual plant hanger. For the bigger plants.

But I have lots of plant clippings and lots of containers on my window sill. So I thought I would make some simple hangers on my own. So I went and tried some out. A simple circle of 6-8 and gradually increase by 2 for each round. I did this till I got to the size I wanted and then just kept it at that size and finished off with a simple edge. Like a single crochet, I did do one decrease all the way around so it would hold the jar better. Basically a crochet bowl, more or less. It did the job of holding my plant clippings.

I just made these then put my baby jar inside it with some water and plant clipping. Hung from the curtain rod, nice and light and easy to do. Looked so pretty cause it is so small and hangs in front of my window. Like its suspended in air, and a good way to see the roots grow also.

I even upcycled some yogurt cups and fruit cups and made little hangers for them. You can’t even tell that it is those containers. You can use any kind of jar you want. Or even a tealight container, they look so adorable too. Use your imagination on what you could use for a container to hold your clippings. Just by using what is in your house and no need to buy a special cup.

You Can Make Anything

If you have ever crocheted anything like an animal or even slippers or even circle dishcloth. You would know how to do this already. Even just try, if you don’t know how to do it. It is very easy, just make sure it looks ok.

Like I said I would go basic first, a good place to start is by making dishcloths by doing a single crochet. Learn how to make multiple colors of this and making sure they are uniform in size. Master this, then go move onto a double crochet and see if you can do a granny square. Maybe even a small throw blanket for your lap, or for the bottom on your bed. Once you know you can do this, then go ahead and move onto a different level of stitches and see what else you could make. I think as long as one or two stitches are mastered and you can do them. Possibilities of what you can do is endless.

i know I have just came across this awesome one I will do soon. Is making a crochet bag out of cotton yarn. Using 2-3 different colors for each square, join them and then make a handle bag. I know I can also make a bag with all the same color or even just use 2 colors. Or even get fancy and add some fancy stitching on it too. Or even go as far as adding some small beads to the yarn and make it even more nicer. I still have yet to go and learn and practice adding beads to my yarn, seems simple but I have not tried it out yet.

Another one I have seen is making a patchwork blanket, by joining the squares as I go along. I gotta read it and see if i will know how to do this. That is the next blanket I will be making. I am wondering if I should just make it with black and blue, since I have lots of this color. But I also have alot of white too. Or even purple yarn, I even have multiple colors of purple to use. Hmm, again the possibilites are endless. Letting my mind go crazy for a bit and see what kind of creations I can come up with. Different colors will look nice and then it won’t matter if I run out of color along the way. Depending on the size I decide upon.

So no matter what ever is decided, your mind is so full of ideas for what you can create. Just need a good amount of yarn and a nice color to start with. A good stitch and some ideas to start with and just go from there.
