That is what I wondered. My job before I worked from home. I always wanted to work from home, and I wondered if I really could do it. These were my thoughts when I was working as a chambermaid and worked alot.
I am thinking now for myself and what I do and how I get to stay home. As I used to work, and just was away from home too much. About 10 hours a day I was gone, and then when I did get home. I was just to tired to even do anything. Cause I worked a physical job and was on my feet all 8 hours, oh and I also walked to work.
Walking to work and working my job, and remember its a physical job. I was a chambermaid and you never sit down, maybe just to have lunch. Lots of carrying items, towels and cleaners and carrying dirty laundry. Oh and the bending over to clean and reach spots that needed to be cleaned. And continue doing that over and over again for every room. Oh and if it needed to be done quickly, then you stepped on it and moved even faster. When I moved faster, I always needed to make sure my back was ok. No quick movements and don’t lift heavy items. More walking back and forth the better, when I needed to carry dirty laundry. Easier on my back, cause some things are not better when done quickly.
Hands on physical and now work on a computer
So you see my job was very hands on and physical, few breaks taken cause I needed to get things done. Now I am at home and working from home, by using my computer. So the reason why I changed my job was because of my kids. They said they never see me, or if they do I am either too tired or sleeping cause I had a tough day at work. Some days, I worked so fast that when I finally got home I went to my bed rested. Fell asleep and that was it and lights out for me, till the next day. Thankful I have older kids that are able to care for their younger siblings.
I didn’t see that I was working so much, I did but didn’t. Meaning I knew I worked alot, mainly because I had a goal in mind. Work to support my kids, so they would have food and I could cover my bills. Which means, wifi and tv and subscriptions we all used. Oh and hydro and rent of course. But I didn’t see the time it took me away from my kids. They needed me and I wasn’t there for them. When they got off the bus from school or even left for school I was not there every time.
How it Effected my Daughter
Only way I had my eyes open for me so I could see this. Was when my daughter said I was not home when she got home, she had something to tell me and it couldn’t wait. But then she remembered when she got home I was not there. So I got home, she was upset and had to share something with me, and said why was I not home. Why do I have to work so much, cause she never sees me she said. I like it when your not working, like when we get snow on the ground. This is when work slows down and I only work weekends.
So I knew I had this business on the back burner, and it was there for me to work. But I worked a physical job and did not do my PBS. But now I was re-thinking it all, mainly cause it hurt me to hear my daughter tell me I am not there for her. Being a chambermaid was my job before I worked from home.
