My Why of seeking more things for me and my better being. Well I know I go back to being little. I lived a tough life when I was young. No one knew exactly how I lived. I remember one specific day. I was locked outside of my house and my mom passed out. I stayed out in the cold and rain and was hungry. This happened afterschool I never got inside till the next day.
I was alright though, a neighbor came and got me and brought me inside his house next door. Lots of thoughts were going through my head, I won’t be like this when I grow up. I will find a way to change my life and be better and this will not happen to my kids. If I have any kids. As I was 8 yrs old when I thought this. This changed my whole life from that very moment. I never realized that until now, that time in my life is what changed me. I lived my life learning and changing for the better.
Being First Nations For The Better
So I didn’t want to be broke or poor as we call it. Being First Nations is what I am. And everyone thinks that we are all drunks and on drugs or both and poor. The way many think we are, and we are all not like that. I am not a statistic and made sure I found a way to change me for the better.
So I quit drinking and no longer smoke, as I used to do that. I realized for my well-being and for a better life for my kids I had to change. I am the start of that change to break the chain of how my family history is. It is starting with me and my kids. It is hard and I won’t lie, it is a lot of work and I am up for the task. I just need to be strong and stick to what I know is right. What is making me who I am. That is the main My Why!!! It started with that thought and memory of what I remember.
My kids Are Better For What I do
I know my kids are not growing up without food. Don’t see my drinking or smoking anymore, I see that it is good for my kids for the path they are on. It is good for them, as they are doing great in school and not doing any bad things either. I know it is hard at times to make sure I stay positive and on my track in life. I don’t struggle too much but of course, we all struggle at times.
Improve Yourself
Read some self-help books, watch YouTube Videos for self-motivation videos. Sometimes it may just be making sure you have some time for yourself. Calm down and make time just for yourself. Even if it is just an hour a week. Start small and you will realize some difference in yourself. You will be more calm and relaxed and not stressed out.
While I was searching for things I needed to do to relax. I had found this great Facebook group and I found a comment on there. I commented, and you know what it lead me too?? My new business and my PBS. It is a work-from-home business and I love it. I am a marketer and I market many things, which make me money. Keeps me home for my kids and I see them off to school each day. Now, where can you get to do that??? The great thing I found in Facebook.
I am so grateful for what I have found, or was meant to find. Have faith in yourself and you will be a better you. You just need to believe in yourself and your own abilities. Things I believe happen for a reason. I have many reasons for My Why, and it is hard to pinpoint them all.
My Family
I came from a long line of alcoholics in my family. Both my parents were and so was my uncles and aunties. Even my grandpa too. If I think about family, alot of them all drank. So I was destined to be that too, an alcoholic. Which I am, I am sober now though. I hang in there for my family, some days harder than others. But I am still here, doing what I need to do.
I know I made alot of mistakes, but I learned. I don’t want my kids to grow up as I did. We were poor when I was growing up. My dad worked alot, but he also died when I was 7. So that made it hard for my mom, and me. I never did really had anything when I grew up. A birthday was just another day for me, nothing special. Christmas came and went, we might of had chips and dip and got to watch a movie. But that was is all I remember.
I look back now, and I know my childhood is not what a childhood should be. But sadly it was my childhood. So when I look back I am here, knowing I am strong and I survived that all. It has made me into who I am today. I do everything to make sure my kids and grandkids do not need to live as I did.
