Should I Plant A Garden?

Should I plant a garden is what I have been thinking about lately. Better to grow my own or buy vegetables in store? I do like gardening, but I don’t know if I can dedicate the time needed for a garden. There is benefits of having your own garden. You get fresh air and your outside and not inside your house. The clarity for your mind, and you can enjoy your veggies once they grow.

I have been thinking a lot about planting a garden or not. I have an automatic water timer. So the watering of my garden is not an issue. I think it’s the starting the garden first, that has me thinking I want a small garden. Cause if I go to big of a garden. That means there will be lots of weeds to take care of. I don’t like that part of having a garden. Lots of weeding twice a week. I usually only do it once a week, and I am out there for a while. Cause I only do it once a week.

should I plant a garden?

Seems like too much trouble. And I wonder what do I want to grow.

  • cucumbers
  • tomatoes
  • zucchini
  • beans(maybe)
  • beets

See my veggie list is not that long at all. But I tend to go overboard. I had around 30 tomato plants last year. Mainly cause they were given to me, a lot were. So I planted them anyway, thinking maybe they will take and some won’t. Well, guess what!!! They all took, so I had lots of tomatoes, but they were all beef steak. So I had to water them alot, so that they would get bigger. They were delicious tomatoes. Cucumbers didn’t do so well. Not enough cucumbers because not much sun for them. I also think they didn’t get pollinated also.

So that is why I am wondering if I should plant a garden or not? As I do only plant that little amount. Sometimes my garden does good, but last year not so good. I may only plant a few plants this year and just focus more on that. A nice small garden, much more cared for than a big garden. That almost gets too much for just me to worry about.

The reason why I have thought about a smaller garden is that I focus more now on my work from home business. I dedicate alot of time to this, I would rather be working my business than worrying about a garden. But this year, I think should I plant a garden- yes is the answer. Because fresh grown vegetables is a good thing. So I get some exercise and fresh air in and also gets me out there with nature. I will have my water on a timer and be able to have it watered before daylight. Which lets the plants get some more water and they will absorb more also. A win-win, because I don’t need to be there either. No more standing there with a water wand watering my garden.

Now I Have Strawberries

Strawberries I have lots of them!!! So many that I had to have them divided and thinned out. Got them re-transplanted and now the garden area looks fabulous. Since I have so many strawberry plants, I have these on a timer to get watered at night. So that they get the water they need, and I don’t have to remember to go water them each day. And now that they got all thinned out. They will be much easier to manage and weed when needed. I also fertilize to help them grow more and get more bigger strawberries too. My kids and grandkids love having fresh strawberries, eating them right there or having in their smoothies.

When I think about smoothies I also think about the fruit syrup I made from the plum tree last year. I will be watering that more this year because I want to dry some plums this time. Now, I have lots of plums because i get them off a good friend. So I have italian plums to dry and I will use my plums to make a syrup. I have recently bought a juicer, that goes on the stove and the juice drops down into a pot that pours into a jar when its juiced. Greatest thing ever, should of bought one sooner.
