Homemade Pear Sauce

Homemade pear sauce is pretty easy to make. If you know how to make applesauce, then you have it made. Same process, just that you’re using pears instead.

So basically, you will need some ripe pears. Not too ripe though, because you will need to be able to still peel them. Without them squishing when you handle them. When they have gotten to that point you will be wanting to make juice with them, or even pear jelly.

But for this you need to have your pears a little sweet. Because you want your pear sauce sweet. As you want to use this for Sunday morning pancakes or even a side with pork chops. Or even a dollop with your oatmeal in the morning.

How to make Homemade Pear Sauce

Pretty simple, wash all your pears, take off any bruised sections of your pears. Then proceed to peeling them, and cutting out the core and stem. After that, cut to desired pieces-smaller the better.

Now, add your cut up pears to a big pot. Can add some lemon juice to your pears if you want. After they have cooked for 10-20 minutes on medium heat. You can cook for a longer time on low heat if you want. Depending how much time you have. I prefer cooking it on medium and stand there and stir and gradually add my sugar to the pot.

You add your sugar to your pears when you want. In the middle of cooking, or near the end when they are almost done. It is up to you. You will find out what works for you, as we are all different in how we cook.

Fruit Leather Can Be Made From Pear Sauce

Did you know that you can make fruit leather with your pear sauce? After it is made, you can add some to your dehydrator. Cut out a circle of parchment paper to put it on. Or if your dehydrator came with fruit roll trays. Mine are plastic little circle sheets for fruit leathers. Each dehydrator is different from what you can use, or even what they come with.

But even if you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use your oven also. Even just add it to a cookie sheet, and have parchment paper underneath. Low setting on your oven, and keep an eye on it. Each oven varies, but make sure you keep an eye on it. Because you do not want it to burn.

But I want to try some fruit leather with my raspberry sauce I made. I froze it and have never used. But I was thinking maybe I would eat it if I were to make it into a leather. Because I am eating my dried plums and apples like crazy. Cause I also canned plums, but I keep forgetting I have them. That is why I went and dried some this year.

Healthier Alternative is Dehydrated Fruit

I had canned plums last year, I kept forgetting about them. So this year, I decided to dry some plums. I love buying prunes in the store, so I thought why not.

Actually, taste pretty good!! Because I eat alot of them now. Try not to eat too many. Don’t need to eat to many of these.

I also dried some apples too. I will dry some pears pretty soon too.

A healthier alternative to eating chips. Better for your weight also. Lots of vitamins in them too.

With all this dehydrating and canning I am doing, I sure need to keep up and keep focused. What keeps me focused is this great product I am taking from Velovita. Go Here and check it out. Or even just view this and see for yourself.

Fabulous product for the start of your day. I usually will take one of these, if I know I will have a long day. Which I did today, I had alot of canning to get done. Also, the dehydrating I got done also. Keeps me going, for all that I need to do.
