I love painting my nails, it makes them look so pretty. There are so many colors to choose from. Depending on how you feel for the day. I love choosing metallic colors, the kind that makes waves in the color. I also love purple nail polish, and dark blue. I just found some great neon colors that look cool, come in pink and light blue.
When it comes to painting your nails, you can pick any color you feel like having. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area to do your nails. You will want some fresh air when doing this, as others will wonder where that weird smell is coming from. My kids come in the room, and say “ew, your painting your nails.” So having an open window in the room you are in, would be a good idea.
Tips Before You Start
Now, you want to remove old nail polish from your nails first. Clean and wash your hands and nails. Make sure they are free of any old polish before you even start. So no old polish will mix with your new color, especially if it is not the same tone as the one you are putting on. I do this cause I love painting my nails.
I know you can also do a finget soak for your nails. A bowl big enough for your hands, and fill it with dishsoap and warm water. Just enough water to cover your nail beds when they are in the water. This softens your cuticles so your able to push them back or cut them. I don’t do this, I just leave my cuticles the way they are. I don’t really have a problem with them.
I find that I paint my nails for my own self-care. Something I do for myself, and it helps me to relax and be calm. But I sure do not like when I have to re-do them.
Make Sure You Have-before you start
- your clear base coat
- Your choice of color of polish
- top coat
- nail polish remover
- cotton balls/qtips
- cuticle clippers (hang nails)
Then Your Ready to Start -And Let’s GO!
- Clean spot, dust free and a good area or table for your nailpolish
- Get all your colors together, and start with your base coat if you use that.
- Start painting your nails, one color or many colors.
- Check your nails for mistakes-accidently painting on the side of your nail
- Fix your mistakes, with a q-tip and nail polish remover.
When You’re Done Painting Your Nails
Some care is needed to protect all the work you did to make your nails pretty. I know it only takes time to paint them and dry them. I find I seem to not let them dry completely, because I touch a blanket or towel. Get the wrinkle look on my nails, sure does get annoying. I am learning to sit and not do anything and let my nails dry on there own.
Some Issues you make find that Damage your Nails
- dishwashing, your hands are in water too long
- typing on a keyboard/computer
- House cleaning with household cleaners
- finger tapping on a table
- Eating Spits-a sunflower seed snack. Splitting them open with your thumb nail
- opening a can of pop with your nails
- no opening envelopes with your nails
- no banging your nails on a table or counter
