Crochet blanket ideas are what made me find out about making a C2C crochet blanket. Now the only reason why I was looking at making a blanket, is because I was wanting to make a baby blanket.
That got me looking at crochet stitches, and designs, and ideas for blankets. I had come across an awesome blanket and found out that is was a C2C blanket. Looked so pretty. So I went and looked for a pattern or something that would show me how to do it.
So here’s a breakdown of what I do to make this into a c2c blanket. Possibilities are endless on what you can do with this easy stitch. No need to just be doing double crochet, this works up really fast too. If you are like me, you may just love this so much that you make so many blankets that you need to start giving them away. I made one for my sister since she loved one I had given away to my grandson. So I thought she would love one also.
C2C Crochet
- Chain 6
- In the 4th chain, do a double crochet
- Double crochet in the next 2 chains.
- NEXT ROW- Chain 6
- in the 4th chain from hook & next 2 chains
- Slip stitch into the ch-3 turning chain from the other row
- Chain 3
- Double crochet 3 in the ch 3 turning chain
To keep going, just repeat all the steps above and continue on. You will get the hang of it if you still don’t understand. Or are new to crochet, YouTube is somewhere that you can look to for instruction on this also. A great resource for you whenever you are struggling in crocheting. Or anything for that matter, where you need to see it, not read it.
So I have recently been making blankets in different colours, and changing the colours every 8 rows, sometimes every 4 rows. It all depends on how much yarn in that colour I do have to work with. I have my blanket I am making right now, is in a colour I wanted to use up.
It ended up being an ice cream color blanket, as my kids say. I first started with a chocolate brown, and then added beige, and white. Needed a pop kind of color so I chose pink. So if you did see the colors you too may think of ice cream too. I must like these colors because I started a new blanket and it seems to be the same colors. Only difference is that the colors are mixed within one yarn, and I am choosing colors as I go along with all left over yarn I have.
Ideas For Colors For A Blanket
It doesn’t really matter on the colors of what you chose for a blanket. As long as you love the colors you choose. Or even pick one favorite color you like and go from there. By picking out your other colors to go with that one main color.
The colors you choose are basically up to you as it is your blanket. Unless you are making it for someone else. Then it would be their favorite color and they can choose how many colors to be in the blanket.
So when I make a blanket, I look at the kinds of yarn I have and the colors I do have. Mainly I would be using acrylic yarn and choose 3 colors to work with. Also, the hooks I have to work with for that type of yarn.
Shopping For Yarn
I do go shop for the yarn if it is for someone else. If we have the colors of yarn picked out already. It is easier if the colors are already picked out before you go to the store. And sometimes even a backup color would be good. Just in case your yarn color is not available.
Granny Square Blanket
Granny square blanket is another one that works up pretty quick too. You have probably seen the stitch on a blanket somewhere. Always see it on pillows on couches. Cause like I said they work up pretty fast. And great way to use up scrap yarn too.
I made lots of blankets for my cats, as they love acrylic yarn, and keeps them very warm. Also, keeps them on their own blanket, in their own bed.
I used to make small blankets like this, I did first start with making small squares and joining them. But that too took lots of time to join. So I looked for other ways to make blankets, and there are a lot of ideas out there. It just depends on how much time you have to devote to what you want it for.
I like the ones that work up faster, and no joining needed. So is why I looked for other crochet blanket ideas and came across one I love right now. Which is the c2c crochet, for my making my blankets? So when you think you may need any ideas you can check and see what I have recently added.
Maybe, you like to crochet while sitting outside you may be thinking that you would want to have a glass of wine with that. Or maybe even you just need an energy drink, we have you covered on that too.
