Have lots of leftover yarn and wondering what to do with it all? Scrap crochet blanket, crochet throw pillow cover, cat toys. Possibilities are endless. Depending on what you do, either crochet or knit. I have found I love making blankets, I have made so many of them. I am now making some for my small armchairs. To cover them, when people sit down. Since I have cats in the house, these blankets are easier to clean for me. I just need to remove them when they need to be washed. Better than always vacuuming or steam cleaning the chairs.
If you have lots of yarn, you may want to see exactly what colors you do have. Knowing that will help you in deciding what you will want to do with it all. Cause if you don’t care for the colors, or don’t have enough of one color to really do anything. Then a throw pillow may be what you will want to make.
Throw Blanket For A Chair
I have chosen to make a different color blanket for my chair. It will be for the chair I sit in. So I am going to choose the colors that I will love to look at. This is for my crocheting and watching tv chair. I started with pink in the center and worked my way out, with all different other colors. Looking great so for. Just need to decide how big it is going to be, also if I will be adding a border to it or not. I am doing my blanket in lighter colors and it is all from scrap yarn. This is all the leftover yarn I have in a box and just don’t know what I will be using it for. But my box was getting so full and I had to decide on what to make to slowly empty the box. I love the way my blanket is coming out.
Throw Pillow In Granny Square Stitch
This granny square would be in the crochet of course. Easy to make if you already know the stitch already. Choose your center color and work towards the outside. I did this for my blanket, and I chose the colors as I went along. Depending on all the yarn I currently had. Making a beautiful blanket right now. Some of the colors are ones that you thought would never go well together. But it all works and it looks great.
So you can either just go with 2 colors or choose a whole bunch of different colors to add. Either have them all picked out already or do on the fly. It is up to you, cause it is you that is crocheting it. Unless this is for a friend, then maybe ask them if they like your color choices.
I am thinking of making a nice pillow for my couch. Have not decided on any colors yet. It is just a thought right now. I will decide, maybe find a nice purple. Since that is my favorite color, maybe mix it with black. Think that would like nice? Or maybe a white? A white border Or do consecutive purple and white? Lots to think about. Because if I take the time to crochet it, I want it to be a color and pattern I will love. It will also display my work for others to see also.
Ideas For Leftover Yarn
Lots of leftover yarn and just don’t know what to do with it all. Sit down and think of all the possibilities you can do with it all. How about go on Pinterest and see what you can find, or even online. Check out websites and see what you can find. Even try out some new stitches, whether you crochet or knit. So many ideas out there for you to find. Don’t limit yourself to just your thoughts. Think of looking around at others’ ideas and what they had done. Maybe it will inspire you to do your own also.
I know I have a great idea I want to do. Is crochet myself a small curtain, but have not found the right pattern or stitch I want it to be. As it will be in a small crochet #10 thread. So lots of small stitching and lots of work. But I will be looking at it always.
I have also thought of something else I had seen. Making doilies and placing them in embroidery hoops. They would be out on display for others to see what you have done. But again, I don’t know. Cause I have never made doilies and that small kind of work either. Maybe when I get more used to using that kind of thread. I may just start with making some small coasters at first. For my own use, just to get used to making something that is small and nice.
