Pasta Casseroles

Pasta casseroles are easy to make, and you most likely have the ingredients already. A good base and some cream sauce and pasta and even maybe some cheese. As easy as that and you have a meal to create for your family that they will love.

I know i just made a casserole tonight and I wasn’t sure anyone would like it. They did, so I will be sure to be making it again sometime.

Cheesy Tuna Casserole

  • half diced onion
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, or more
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 cup uncooked macaroni
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. water or chicken stock
  • 2 cans tuna, drained
  • 1 can mixed peas & carrots, drained
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced small
  • 1-2 c. shredded cheese
  • box of stovetop stuffing or simple cracker topping

In a frying pan, melt some butter and add the onion. While doing this, boil and cook the pasta. Following the instructions on the package.

Cook onion till soft and tender, then add the flour. Add the milk and chicken stock and cook till thickened. About 10 minutes or so. Make sure you stay close to watch it closely. Once it’s thickened you can add the peas/carrots and the tuna. Mix in the seasoning and garlic. Once mixed add the cooked pasta you cooked. Then add the cheese and mix.

Place all in a lightly greased baking pan-9×9. After this, make the stuffing mix for the topping. Or your crumb mixture, something just for the topping.

Bake on 400°F for 15-20 minutes or until done. Many have heard of this casserole and there are many varieties of pasta casseroles out there in cookbooks or the internet.
