Where to move my desk is what I have been trying to figure out the past few days. Moving a desk is easy to do when you have the space to move it anywhere. I really don’t have that. Then all the items on the desk and the computers also.
Is another task that goes with moving the desk. Moving a big piece of furniture is not that bad, as long as you have the help.
Things I think that are important for my desk area:
- lighting for the desk
- need space to move around
- access to a printer
- need my books close
- accessories for my work close to me
- quiet space
So Where Do I Move My Desk?
- in the kitchen?
- bedroom?
- or in the living room
I am still undecided to where my desk will go. I need to do the measurements for the space I am thinking of moving it. Sounds really easy, that was the plan for today. But it did not work that way. I looked at all the things on my desk, and basically gave up.
I didn’t want to move my desk at all. But I have to, I have a deadline for when it has to be moved. So less that a week to go to get it all done. But another thing is I forgot to say is I actually have 2 desks.
So I need to figure out which desk I even want to use. Which one do I actually like using. So I will figure that out, then. Pack up my desk items and then disconnect my computers and move them.
Work Desk
I ended up buying a new desk, which actually works better than my old desk. Cause this one is L-shaped and my chair slides right beside it easily. I have a writing side and a side for my computer and monitor which works for me. My other desk had a window behind it, which gave me a headache. This one actually places me on the side with the window on my left now. More space and writing room and it has metal legs. More legroom and it feels way better also. So this may be the solution you may need. Or even just use a kitchen table for now, till you decide what desk will work for you.
How To Make Your Desk Work For You!
Still a work in progress, I am trying to figure that part out. I need to be able to go straight to work, without stressing out. I need all my things close to hand, but not cluttered. I have decided to put a wire tall shelf close to my desk for my things.
I have my pens and pencils in a cup. Books on there and my printer paper. Some reference papers on there also. Random junk- sticky notes, paperclips, scotch tape, pencil sharpener.
But my desk, needs my iPad charge cord and cord to charge headphones. My keyboard and notepads and my drink.
But I also have my small speaker on my desk also. So I can listen to music while I am looking up things online. Sure doesn’t sound like much, but once it is all on the desk. It all looks cluttered and such a big mess.
How To Get Past Stressing Over The Mess!!!
The mess is the junk that does not belong on my desk. I have snacks and random pens. Random pens, cause I like using all different colours when I take notes. And have a habit to just throw on the desk. Also, random scrap papers too.
I also color in my coloring books too, which get thrown on there too. So it is meant to calm me but stresses me out at times too. Mainly cause I see them making a mess on my desk. So I try and move to my shelf, but to do that I have to move something to make room for the book.
Seems to spiral, like I need to make room for it. Need to move something to have it on my shelf. Seems like that is how it is all over my house. To put something in another spot I need to make room first. Which means moving items around. Then I turn around and there is no where to move it at all.
Because of the clutter that I see in my house. So it has lead me to start decluttering. I have tackled my kitchen and bathroom and linen closet. They do look nice and tidy, and almost no clutter.
