Have Lots Of Yarn

Have lots of yarn and just trying to think of what you can do with it all. Now, there is a lot of things you can do with it. A blanket, all different little color squares. You can make a bunch of crochet toppers for dishcloths. Make some sweaters or socks. A whole variety of things you can do. Just go and look online and see what you can find. It all depends on what you think you would like.

When you spend all the time creating something with yarn. It is good to make something you know you will use. Because it takes a lot of time for making anything you decide to either crochet or knit. So when I make something it is always with colors I love. Or even with just the colors, I have on hand. If I don’t have enough of a good mix of colors then I would make something like a scrap afghan.

Scrap Afghan

That is basically a blanket made of all leftover yarn. I just made one recently, with all different colors and I just did a continuing c2c blanket. Meaning, when I ran out of one color I added another color and just continued on with my blanket. I made sure to choose my colors so they would blend together nicely. My next blanket, I think will be a scrap-looking blanket. But I will have all the colors already chosen, I was thinking of doing a blue/black/white and maybe a pop of pink thrown in there. After you make one of these blankets you will see how you want your next blanket. The mixing of your colors gets better as you make more blankets when you have lots of yarn.

Crochet Toppers

Making crochet toppers is something I do love doing. I still wonder if I should make them double instead of one layer of the dishtowel. I have found that I like making a topper just by making a simple granny square and adding it to the dishtowel. You would fold it in half and add it to the towel. Also at the corner, you would sew an extra strip of stitches. About an inch thick would work and make sure you have a spot for a button to be added onto it also. And again, this gets easier as you make one and then another. And more, and more you make them. You will modify how you make them also. Because you will be able to make the basic and go from there. Better and better each time. Use cotton yarn for this also, since your dishtowel is cotton too. This is what I do when I find a great sale and have lots of cotton yarn.

A Blanket In Strips

This is something I recently just thought about. Cause this sure would be easier than just making tiny or big squares. I would think you would have to keep the same tension through each of the strips. Pick some beautiful colors for your blanket, crochet, or knit each panel. You can join with black yarn unless you like white yarn. The choice is always up to you. You can go as big or long as you like your blanket to be. If it is for a bed, then measure the size and that will be the size you will need. Now this most likely will be another one of my crochet projects in the future.

Your blanket could be as thin as a scarf would be. Then the rows would be smaller and you would be able to add many colors. But remember that you will, later on, need to be joining these all together also. I would go with a larger strip than a smaller one if I had enough of the one color for the size I need. Less stitching them together later, and my blanket will be finished sooner.

Baby Clothes and blankets

Now if you decide to make clothes out of yarn. Remember to make sure you have a lot of one color because it is hard to get the exact amount of yarn you need. Better to have more than to have less. I love to make little booties and little bonnets. I may make some little burp pads for the new baby coming. When you have lots of yarn to use and especially baby yarn. There is a lot to choose from. Depending on what you would like to make and what would be used.

Continuing Granny Square Blanket

Now that sounds very interesting. But you would have to make sure you have a lot of varieties of colors. So you can mix these as you go along. Making sure that they mix and look good too. Would look great that’s for sure. Can you imagine if you choose the right colors and how they would spiral out from the center. Or even if you just added a new color for every 2 or 4 rows, depending on how you would like it to be. How much patience do you have to make one of these?

Have a plan for the size your thinking about? Or maybe a throw blanket may be the right size to start with. See if you like it and see if it is easy or hard for you to do. Depending on your skills and whatnot.
